VUB Corrosion school Feb 2017
The Research group of Electrochemical and Surface Engineering (SURF) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel is organizing an Electrochemical School: “Corrosion: from analysis to modelling” from 6 to 10 February 2017.
SCOPE
Corrosion consumes up to 1-5% of a nation's GNP and induces both health and safety issues. An overview of the fundamentals of this phenomenon together with the understanding and application of highly advanced characterization technologies are the aims of this advanced training.
HIGHLIGHTS
- novel insights into impedance spectroscopy and its application within corrosion research
- a global package of complementary surface analysis techniques
- an introduction to micro-electrochemical techniques applied to localized corrosion studies
- theoretical modelling of corrosion phenomena: simulation and prediction
PARTICIPATION
The Doctoral School is open for Phd students and industrial researchers interested in
thorough understanding of electrochemical phenomena. To assure the quality of the program and to enhance the interaction between the participants, the numbers will be limited to a maximum of 40 places. Therefore, a selection based on a Curriculum Vitae and motivation letter will be carried out.
REGISTRATION FEE
PhD students: 300€
Industrial researchers: 2000€
The fee includes participation, meals (lunch & coffee breaks), an electronic version of the lessons and a social program.
IMPORTANT DATES
December 16, 2016: Deadline of CV & motivation letter
January 9, 2017: Notification of acceptance
January 27, 2017: Registration and Payment deadline
