Masterclass Data-driven innovation Sirris
-- Masterclass 'Data-driven innovation beyond the hype’ - October 7, 10:00 – 16:30, Diamant Building (Bd. A Reyerslaan 80, 1030 Brussels) --
The Sirris Data Innovation team organises a masterclass 'Data-driven innovation beyond the hype’ on October 7, 10:00 – 16:30 @ Diamant Building in Brussels (Bd. A Reyerslaan 80, 1030 Brussels).
Data-driven innovation aims to solve and support business problems by exploiting and leveraging the data that is generated during the business process. While a lot of attention is currently given to examples by major internet companies (e.g., Google, Amazon, Facebook), data science can also be very valuable to innovate within other research and industrial domains and within SMEs (e.g., to derive insights from experimental data, to profile products and customers, to optimize production processes, to predict the failure of machines, or even to build data-centered startups).
In this masterclass, we will introduce you to the foundations of data science, and teach you how to transform a data-related business problem into a data science solution. By means of actual cases from current Data Innovation projects, the iterative and creative path from business understanding to data exploitation will be described. In addition, an intuitive and business-oriented overview of the most frequently used state-of-the-art algorithms and tools will be given, and some common beliefs about data analytics as a commodity are debunked.
This masterclass is of interest for everyone with a good technological background, a strong affinity to analytic reasoning, and an interest in data analysis who needs to translate business opportunities into solvable technological problems, who wants to explore the new opportunities that are generated by the increasingly available stream of data, or who needs to drive a team of data scientists.
Pricing: 960 EUR per person, including lunch, coffee break and a hardcopy of the course notes. From the second registered person per company, a discount of 10% on the participation fee is granted. Flemish SMEs can make use of the KMO-portefeuille (http://www.agentschapondernemen.be/themas/kmo-portefeuille). The number of participants is limited to 20, with a first-come-first-serve policy.
