the SBO project NaPoS focused on composites existing of steel (fibers and plates) in a polymer matrix. 

The objective of NaPoS was to develop a scientific base to optimize the interaction between steel and polymers. By optimizing this interaction, the unique properties of steel (high toughness and high stiffness) can result in tough and durable steel reinforced polymer composites.

To do this, knowledge was built up regarding modifications of the steel surface, of the polymer matrix and of the transition zone between steel and polymer using gradient structures and properties.
